Inulin properties
Formulation behaviour of chicory inulin — solubility, sensory, viscosity, texture, and process fit.
This page covers how Inuluxe™ chicory inulin behaves in recipes. For the scientific definition of inulin, see What is inulin? For chain-length effects, see DP & chain length.
High solubility
Chicory inulin is water-soluble, with dissolution behaviour influenced by concentration, temperature, particle size, and DP profile. At appropriate use levels, Inuluxe™ can be used in beverages, dairy systems, and dry mixes designed for reconstitution — without sandy mouthfeel when properly dispersed.
Neutral taste and odour
Chicory inulin has a neutral sensory profile at recommended inclusion rates, so flavour systems can stay clean in beverages, yogurt, bakery, and supplements.
Low viscosity — no strong gel
Unlike some hydrocolloids, chicory inulin typically contributes low viscosity and does not form firm gels at normal food use levels. That makes it practical for thin beverages and for fibre enrichment without thickening the system beyond target.
Texture and mouthfeel
Inulin can improve body and creaminess in reduced-fat or reduced-sugar systems, and support moisture retention and crumb softness in bakery. Performance depends on DP profile, solids, and process (heat, shear, pH).
Fibre contribution
As a soluble dietary fibre, Inuluxe™ supports fibre enrichment and fibre-related labelling when used within applicable regulations for your market. Confirm fibre declaration rules with your regulatory team.
Water compatibility & processing
Inuluxe™ can be incorporated into wet and dry processing systems. Final stability and performance should be validated against the specific formulation, temperature, pH, shear, and processing conditions.
